Streamer Time

In the interest of time and the fact that I am falling farther and farther behind on my reports I am going to make this short and sweet. Streamer season has been upon us for over a month and its time to swing for the fences with 8wts, 300 grains, and big streamers. I've managed to float some big fish water three times so far. The first was at the beginning of the month...and it was brutal. I got the only fish we saw all day, and for the river we were on, that 17-18 incher was a dink.

The second trip was back to the same river and the same stretch. Very cold weather made it feel more like steelhead season than streamer time. 2 teener trout were brought to net which avoided the skunk but still isn't what you come for. Jeff did move 2 giant fish but neither committed to the fly and sunk back into the depths. You could feel we were getting closer.

Our most recent streamer run was this past Tuesday. It was on the same river again, but this time further downstream in a lower section. This time, finally, we got what we came for. We each moved a fish or two but Jeff found the only eater and made it count with 25.5 inches of solid gold! Needless to say the whole boat erupted when this giant was at the bottom of the net. Cheers!
